An old-fashioned, big top circus is coming to Lake City next month. The Culpepper & Merriweather Great Combined Circus will be setting up in Goins Park on Wednesday, Aug. 7. City Administrator, Eric Wood, says area residents can join in the fun before the shows even begins by coming out and watching them raise the iconic white and blue tent.
Two 90-minute performances are planned for later in the day, one starting at 5 p.m. and another at 7:30 p.m. Wood says each show has a large selection of acrobatics, performing animals and much more.
One of the performers, Skeeter the Clown, will be making her way into town later this week. She will be performing on Friday at the Lake City Library at 10 a.m. and visiting several local daycares. Wood says the city is sponsoring the circus, and they will receive a portion of ticket sales in return as a result.
Tickets can be purchased at the door for only $15 for adults and $8 for seniors and kids between two and 12 years old. Children under the age of two are admitted for free. Advance tickets are available for a discount, $12 for adults and $7 for seniors and children at City Hall, Lake City Hardware, Wilkins NAPA and Lake City Food Center.
