One of the Storm Lake men arrested last month in connection to a string of burglaries and thefts is now charged with felony sexual abuse. Storm Lake authorities report they uncovered video evidence of an alleged sexual assault while executing search warrants on a cell phone seized as part of the investigation into the crimes reported on Aug. 20. Authorities say they have identified a suspect in the video as 18-year-old Malga Harun Yanga of Storm Lake. Yanga was taken into custody at approximately 3 p.m. on Thursday and transported to the Buena Vista County jail, where he was charged with third-degree sexual abuse, a class C felony and invasion of privacy, an aggravated misdemeanor. He also faces second-degree theft, conspiracy to commit a non-forcible felony and burglary charges in connection to the Aug. 20 incidents. Yanga remains in custody on a $12,000 cash bond. If found guilty of the new charges, he faces a maximum penalty of 12 years in prison and more than $16,000 in fines. The Storm Lake Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) assisted in the investigation.
