The Carroll Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire in the 100 block of South Crawford Street at approximately 8:07 p.m. Friday. Upon arrival, they learned an intoxicated individual who resided at the residence had, in all likelihood, dropped a lit cigarette into a pile of clothing in the bathroom. The small fire that resulted had been extinguished before firefighters arrived. There was no structural damage to the apartment. Firefighters remained on scene long enough to clear smoke from the dwelling before returning to the station. No injuries were reported.
