A Carroll doctor has been named St. Anthony Regional Hospital’s Chief Medical Officer (CMO). Kyle Ulveling, MD, FACC, has taken over the newly-created part-time position. St. Anthony President and CEO, Ed Smith says, “We recognize the importance of physician leadership, both in the clinical practice of the hospital and with the recruitment of new providers and programs with the system. That is the reason the CMO position has been created and we are thrilled that Dr. Ulveling has agreed to serve in this role.” Responsibilities will include assisting with quality and patient safety initiatives, acting as a conduit between surrounding communities and the medical staff at St. Anthony, supporting the elected medical staff leaders and providing leadership in evaluating new clinical programs and technology. Dr. Ulveling will continue his full-time cardiology practice with the Iowa Heart Center and to perform inpatient procedures at the hospital. Dr. Ulveling was born in Carroll and raised in Breda, graduating from Kuemper Catholic High School. He received his bachelor’s degree in biology and his medical doctorate at Creighton University and began his career as a cardiologist at the Iowa Heart Center in Carroll in 2013. He is board certified in cardiology, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology.
