Every local school will have at least 1 representative at the State Wrestling Tournament this coming week as 11 wrestlers from the six local schools punched their tickets to Des Moines. South Central Calhoun has the most representatives with 4 including 3 district champs. Jordan Khommanyvong at 138, Blake McAlister at 160 and Kevin King at 220 all won their district with a dominate performance in the finals. Kevin King will go in as a district runner-up for the Titans after losing in the finals but finishing 2nd. Carroll and Kuemper will each sent two wrestlers to State. Ben Schmitz at 120 and Shae Parkis at 138 will represent the Knights. Schmitz dropped his 1st match and worked his way back to a district runner- up while Parkis fell in the finals but also advanced with a district runner-up. Abraham Dirkx and Jaxson Kuhlmann will represent Carroll. Kuhlmann lost in the semis at 126 but got a chance to wrestle back and took advantage with a 12-4 win. Dirkx lost in the finals but came back to dominate and win his wrestle back by fall and finish as a district runner-up. Nate Thomsen of East Sac was very impressive in high two matches at 132 winning 13-1 and by fall to go as a district champ. Luke Mosinski of Audubon also dominated both his matches at 220 with both coming by fall as he does as a district champ. Aaron McAlister of Coon Rapids Bayard is the last of the local kids to head to state. He qualified at 182 by winning by fall in the opening round and then by a 10-6 score in the finals.
