Carroll is among a host of central Iowa cities who are the first to have access to U.S. Cellular’s new 5G network with the launch of the 5G-ready Samsung Galaxy S20, S20+and S20 Ultra. “U.S. Cellular brings fairness to wireless by introducing 5G coverage to our central Iowa customers with even faster data connection speeds for a better experience on city streets, country roads and in their homes,” says Mike Adams, director for sales in Iowa and Nebraska. The expansion is the result of previous network investments to modernize equipment and software. In 2019, U.S. Cellular invested nearly $74 million in 5G upgrades to enhance the network experience for Iowa residents. The company has plans to enlarge the product portfolio with more 5G smartphones and other connected devices throughout 2020. This is the first phase of a planned multi-year expansion.
