The latest update from Carroll County Public Health shows no new cases of COVID-19 have been identified as of noon today (Monday). However, local health officials say available information suggests person-to-person spread will likely occur and additional cases are expected in the coming weeks. They are urging institutions and organizers to begin implementing contingency plans, particularly for events with more than 50 people in attendance. They continue to stress the importance of washing your hands with soap and water frequently, covering coughs and sneezes and staying home when ill. Additionally, they are recommending added mitigation measures like social distancing. Businesses and community organizations are strongly encouraged to review their existing emergency operation plans, including sick leave policies and telework practices. Carroll County Public Health will post regular updates and advisories to their Facebook page at 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays and notices as necessary. A link to that page can be found included with this story on our website.
