The Keep Iowa Beautiful program has been instrumental in updating three buildings in Jefferson’s historic downtown district through a Paint Iowa Beautiful Grant. Deb Kucerak, a member of the design committee for Jefferson Matters: Main Street, applied for the grant to update the building facades at 100, 200 and 202 East State Street. She was joined by other committee members, Susan Fray and Chris Heisterkamp, who all clocked in approximately 60 hours of painting work to complete the projects. The covered windows at Angie’s Teagarden were painted black to give the illusion of windows while the façade of Lawton Family Chiropractic was painted white for a fresh new look. The grant covered the cost of the Diamond Vogel Paints used in these projects.
