Shelby And Crawford Counties Record New COVID-19 Cases; Iowa’s Total Grows To 699

The Iowa Department of Public Health reports 85 additional cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the state Friday morning. As of April 2, Iowa’s total number of cases is 699 with 65 of Iowa’s 99 counties recording at least one case to date. Louisa, Lyon and Plymouth Counites confirmed their first infections Friday. Linn, Polk and Johnson Counties have the highest number of cases at 118, 100 and 83, respectively. As for the listening area, Carroll, Audubon and Guthrie Counties have seen only one case since the beginning of the pandemic. Test results for three Crawford County residents, a middle-age adult and two older adults, returned positive Friday, which brings the county’s total to four. Shelby County now has five cases with the addition of one older adult and one elderly adult. In their daily update, Carroll County Public Health reports 65 COVID-19 tests have been administered to date: 57 negatives and eight still pending. According to the IDPH, there have been a total of 8,674 negative tests conducted by the State Hygienic Laboratory and other labs.
