IDPH Confirms 467 New COVID-19 Cases As Numbers Increase Locally

The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) reports 467 new COVID-19 positive tests have been confirmed with 6,843 total cases as of Wednesday morning. Gov. Kim Reynolds notes 93 percent of these new cases were identified in the 22 Iowa counties where restrictions and mitigation measures will remain in place after Friday, May 1. Twelve additional coronavirus-related deaths have also been confirmed, marking 148 deaths to date. In the week since Test Iowa’s launch, more than 229,000 online assessments have been completed by Iowans with more than 3,000 tests completed or scheduled. A second testing site opened today (Wednesday) in Waterloo and two more sites are scheduled to open in Woodbury and Scott Counties by the beginning of next week. As for local counts, Carroll County Public Health confirmed the second Carroll County COVID-19 case this (Wednesday) morning. IDPH reporting is typical delayed by 24 hours and this number will be reflected on coronavirus.iowa.gov Thursday. Audubon County stands at one, Greene County at two and Shelby County at nine.
