More than half of Lake View’s residents were without electricity this afternoon after a traffic accident toppled power lines. According to the Lake View Police Department, the accident occurred early Monday afternoon on Highway 175 east of Lake View. A Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling eastbound on 175 and attempted to make a north turn, pulling in front of a westbound semi-tractor trailer. Power lines were knocked over as a result of the accident, cutting off electricity to homes and businesses on the eastern half of the community, around Black Hawk Lake and in Lake View Municipal Electricity’s rural service area. City crews were able to restore power to the impacted homes about an hour after service was disrupted. Carroll Broadcasting will bring you more information on the accident that caused the outage when official reports become available.
