Storm Lake Woman Arrested For Identity Theft And Criminal Conduct Following Six-Month Investigation

The Storm Lake Police Department reports a Storm Lake woman has been taken into custody following a six-month investigation into alleged criminal activity. At approximately 4 p.m. Wednesday, 28-year-old Sandra Erica Chaidez was arrested on an outstanding warrant for multiple charges, including: ongoing criminal conduct, a class B felony; five counts of identity theft, an aggravated misdemeanor; unauthorized use of a credit card, an aggravated misdemeanor; and possession of stolen property, a simple misdemeanor. The charges stem from an investigation launched in January after authorities received a report accusing Chaidez of property theft. Their investigation found Chaidez allegedly stole personal information from at least six different victims to obtain credit in their names. She was released from the Buena Vista County jail Wednesday after posting a $10,000 bond. The United States Postal Inspection Service also assisted in the investigation.
