Manning Man Pleads Not Guilty In District Court To Felony Child Endangerment Charges

A Manning man accused of felony child endangerment filed his written pleas today (Monday) to the charges levied against him in District Court for Carroll County. Court records show 55-year-old Thomas Patrick McMangial pled not guilty to two counts of child endangerment causing serious injury, class C felonies. An affidavit from the Manning Police Department alleges McManigal threw his keys at a child in late May or early June of last year and struck them in the face. The incident resulted in lacerations to the juvenile’s lips and chipped a tooth, causing it to die. Additional investigation by law enforcement and the Carroll County Attorney’s Office found another incident of child endangerment occurred between Dec. 15, 2019 and Jan. 5 of this year. An order signed today (Monday) has scheduled McManigal’s jury trial to begin on Tuesday, Oct. 20 with a pretrial conference slated for Monday, Sept. 21. Each class C felony carries a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison and $10,000 in fines.
