It will feature two hours of country music by as well as a variety of activities for youth. Depending on available volunteers, activities will include face painting, spin art, nature walks, story time, and crafts. Hamburgers will be served by The Lions club.
Fifty years ago Coon Rapids residents gathered at the city park each Wednesday night to enjoy an evening of music. The Coon Rapids band directed by the famous Roy Holiday played a wide variety of music that was a treat and inspiration for area residents who often stayed in their cars so they could honk their horns if they enjoyed a particular number. This spring Studio 728, a group of Coon Rapids and area musicians led by local resident John Richardson, decided to bring back the summer concerts. Six monthly concerts, each featuring a different musical style, will be hosted on the Riverside Park Stage.
Riverside Park is located on East Bridge Street just after it crosses the Middle Raccoon River. Families should bring their own beverages and lawn chairs. In case of rain or the threat of rain the concert will be rescheduled.
Organizations or individuals wishing to help plan or provide activities at the concerts can call John Richardson at 712-999-2958.
