A six-year-old student was fortunate to sustain only minor injuries after falling out of a moving school bus on Wednesday afternoon. The Storm Lake Police Department was called to the scene at approximately 12:39 p.m., arriving to find a witness caring for the child, who was conscious and alert. An investigation determined that a Storm Lake Community School District bus was turning when the child fell from the emergency door on the driver’s side of the vehicle. The driver stopped the bus in a safe manner and then called for assistance. The child was transported to Buena Vista Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor abrasions. The incident remains under investigation.
