A Parent Tails Assault Suspects While Notifying Police Of Their Location

A parent following a car full of juvenile suspects notified the Jefferson Police Department about an assault that occurred at approximately 9:02 p.m. Saturday night. Officers located the vehicle and when they initiated a stop and approached, the aroma of marijuana was detected emanating from the vehicle. During a probable cause search, officers seized tobacco products, alcohol, drug paraphernalia items, suspected marijuana and a loaded .380 caliber handgun. Three juveniles were arrested and transported to the Greene County Law Enforcement Center. A 15-year-old male from Panora has been charged with assault, a simple misdemeanor, carrying weapons, an aggravated misdemeanor, possession of a controlled substance, marijuana, first offense, a serious misdemeanor and possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of alcohol under the legal age, both simple misdemeanors. A 15-year-old male from Jamaica was arrested and charged with assault, carrying weapons and possession of alcohol under the legal age. A 16-year-old female from Bagley was charged with first-offense possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and reckless driving, a simple misdemeanor. Two were cited for using tobacco under the legal age and another for careless driving.
