A Carroll man charged in District Court for Carroll County for engaging in sexual contact with a minor was sentenced today (Monday). According to court records, 20-year-old Devon Dewaine Lentz pled guilty as part of a plea agreement in February to a reduced charge of lascivious acts with a child, a class D felony. He also pled guilty to reckless use of fire, a serious misdemeanor, from an unrelated incident. Lentz was sentenced to up to five years in prison on the felony charge and 120 days in the county jail for the misdemeanor, which are to be served concurrently. However, both sentences were suspended and Lentz was instead placed on probation for three years. He was also ordered to pay more than $1,400 in fines, surcharges and restitution. Lentz is required to complete all necessary sex offender registry forms within five days of his release from custody. The felony charge stems from an investigation by the Carroll Police Department into an incident on May 6, 2019. Their investigation found Lentz went to the 12-year-old female victim’s home, kissed her on the lips and engaged in sexual contact. In exchange for his plea, one count of first-offense possession of a controlled substance was dismissed.
