A Carroll man accused of bringing a controlled substance into the county jail could face additional charges. According to Carroll County District Court records, 41-year-old Bradley Donald Booher is scheduled to appear before a magistrate on July 16 for first-offense possession of a controlled substance, a serious misdemeanor. Prior to being booked into the Carroll County jail for driving while license revoked, Booher told the arresting officer he did not have any illegal substances on his person. He denied this again before entering the jail. Authorities allege they located a small baggy containing a trace amount of a white substance while he was being processed. The materials were sent to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) laboratory for testing and returned on April 15 as positive for methamphetamine. Possession of contraband in a correctional institution is a class D felony in Iowa punishable by up to five years in prison and $7,500 in fines.
