Two projects on the Carroll water tower that began last September are finally now complete. Painting on both the exterior and interior and the introduction of a mixing paddle to keep water in the tower moving meant the tower was drained for access. The city had initially anticipated the work would be done before winter last year, but inclement weather created a host of problems and the contractor was forced to pull out of the project in late November, returning when the weather cleared this spring. Since that time, the City of Carroll has utilized high-service pumps to maintain water pressure throughout the system, and many residents were not even aware there was still no water in the tower. City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver, is happy to announce that is no longer the case. The tower was refilled and then testing conducting before being put back into use.
Pogge-Weaver says while waiting to fill and test the water, the entire area entered into a dry period. This forced the city to request that residents conserve water during peak usage times.
Pogge-Weaver says now that the water tower is operational again, residents may resume their normal water usage.
