Exterior Of New Carroll County Jail Expected To Be Completed By November

Although things have been a bit quieter than normal during the COVID-19 pandemic for the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, one area has been extremely busy. Sheriff, Ken Pingrey, says the lack of rain has not been good in many respects, but it has allowed for construction on the new jail to proceed at a good pace. A few weeks ago, a critical component was put into place by cranes.

The use of pre-made cells has saved on the construction timeline.

The next phase is to begin setting steel for the second floor and roof.

The plan is to have the outside completely finished by November so interior work can be done over the winter months. Pingrey says some people have voiced concerns about how the exterior will look.

About once a week, the Sheriff’s Office tries to utilize their drone to fly over the construction site and show progress. A link to that can be found below.
