In-Person Early Voting Opens Today For June Primary, But Carroll Courthouse Is Still Closed

Carroll County Auditor, Kourtney Irlbeck, says they have made special arrangements at the Carroll County Courthouse for in-person early voting in the June 2 primary, which opened today (Monday). Because the courthouse remains closed to the general public, the screens have been removed from an Auditor’s Office exterior window on the north side of the building and a sign placed there. Those wishing to vote are asked to go to that window to receive their ballot. If it is raining, Irlbeck says they will allow access through the first set of doors only, and then a staff member will assist the individual from there. With the current COVID-19 situation, everyone is still being encouraged to vote by mail. Anyone with questions about the process is asked to call the Auditor’s Office at 792-9802. Carroll County Supervisor Chair, Rich Ruggles, has also said the county has moved ahead with the purchase of plexiglass for installation at each department public access window. This, Ruggles adds, will unfortunately probably be the way county employees will need to work for quite some time into the future.
