Officials with the Iowa Department of Agriculture are warning residents about packages coming from overseas that contain seeds. The seeds have been turning up in mailboxes across the state, including some locally. The Jefferson Police Department received a report Monday morning from a resident who said he received what he believed were flower seeds, but he had not ordered them. Authorities say there are no labels, so they have no idea whether this could be a noxious weed or a plant treated with some kind of herbicide or pesticide. Anyone who receives these is asked to hold on to them and contact the state’s Entomology and Plant Science Bureau at 515-725-1465.
