Three people are fortunate to have escaped serious injury following a structure fire in Carroll Friday evening. The Carroll Fire Department was dispatched to 120 North Court Street at approximately 7:02 p.m. According to Fire Chief, Greg Schreck, flames were visible on the back porch and had already started spreading to the second story by the time they arrived. Schreck says crews were able to knock the fire down relatively quickly, and the three occupants, two juveniles and their grandmother, were able to escape from the home. They were transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services for treatment of smoke inhalation. Firefighters remained on scene for approximately two and a half hours to monitor for hot spots and flare ups. Schreck says the children were released after being seen by doctors, but the older woman was held overnight for observation. The cause of the blaze has not been identified, and Schreck believes it may take some time before they can determine how the fire started. Based on the extensive damage, the house, owned by Susana Del Angel, will likely be considered a total loss. The Carroll Police Department and Carroll County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
