The Sac County Sheriff’s Office has opened an investigation into a May 18 ATV accident that resulted in a Sac City teen’s death. According to law enforcement, an ATV, driven by 21-year-old Kele Leon Robinson of Sac City, was traveling on a road off of 280th Street that leads into lower Hagge Park with 17-year-old Ryan Mykle Stephens riding as a passenger at approximately 2:30 a.m. He lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree. Robinson was ejected and landed in the Raccoon River. Stephens was also ejected and transported to Loring Hospital by private vehicle. He was then transferred to a Sioux City hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Stephens died Thursday, May 21 as a result of his injuries. Authorities have executed two search warrants in connection to the accident. The first for a sample of Robinson’s blood, which was sent to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) laboratory for testing, and the second at Robinson’s residence in the 400 block of Bowery Street in Sac City. Law enforcement located drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana during their search. The Sac City Police Department is assisting the Sac County Sheriff’s Office in the ongoing investigation.
