A Storm Lake man faces numerous felony sexual abuse charges following a multi-agency investigation. The Storm Lake Police Department received a report on May 12 accusing 35-year-old Mario Delapaz of multiple incidences of sexual assault. The Storm Lake Police Department, Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa Department of Human Services, Centers against Abuse and Sexual Assault and the Buena Vista County Sexual Assault Response Team then initiated a joint investigation. That investigation found Delapaz had engaged in sexual activity with a juvenile over a four-month period earlier this year. According to Buena Vista County District Court records, Delapaz was taken into custody on Friday, May 29 and charged with three counts of third-degree sexual abuse, three counts of incest and two counts of administering harmful substances, class D felonies, and two counts of lascivious conduct with a minor, serious misdemeanors. He was booked into the Buena Vista County jail and released after posting a $10,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, June 24.
