Wagner Appreciates Backing Of Carroll County Republican Party As She Runs For Treasurer’s Office In November

Last week, the Carroll County Republican Party held a special meeting of their delegates, making their nominations for local races that will be on voter’s ballots this November. Newly appointed Carroll County Treasurer, Lisa Wagner, was the sole Republican candidate for this position. Wagner was appointed to take over on July 1, following the resignation of previous Treasurer, Jean Seidl, who still had more than two years left in her term. She says the party delegates’ support is very important to her.

Campaigning during a pandemic will have to look much different. Wagner says she is planning to hold some meetings through digital formats and will be conscientious of the constituents by practicing physical distancing and wearing a mask. Wagner has worked in the Treasurer’s Office for nearly 28 years and says the ability to be hands-on during that time has made the transition a smooth one.

The Treasurer’s Office is one of the busiest in the courthouse as they are also responsible for the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) local services. Wagner says she has identified a goal of streamlining current processes that have been adopted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As we draw closer to that Nov. 3 election, Wagner says she would like voters to know that having started in an entry-level position with the office, she has knowledge of all of the processes and procedures and more.

Wagner says that although she has worked with three different Treasurers during her years in the office, there has been one main focus for all that she vows to carry into another term.

Wagner has been married to her high school sweetheart, John, for 29 years. After attending college, the couple came back to make Carroll their “forever home.” They have four children: Alex, a GPS analyst in Boulder, Col.; Melissa, a special education instructor in Elkhorn, Neb.; Madeline is finishing her college degree; and Simon is a senior at Kuemper High School.
