Donna Rae Hamilton, age 83, of Carroll passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City surrounded by her family.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Chaplain Rachael Bawden officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5 – 8 P.M. on Friday evening at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M. Donna was born on October 31, 1936 in Englewood, CO, and was the daughter of Harold and Helen (Woodruff) Rhodus. She grew up in Colorado and graduated from Alameda High School in Denver in 1954. Donna was married to Richard Hamilton on August 7, 1954 at Raton, NM. The couple made their home in Lakewood, CO, where they raised their four children until 1965 when they moved to Coon Rapids, IA. While living in Colorado, Donna worked for the Russell Stover Candy Company as a chocolate dipper. After moving to Coon Rapids, she worked for Dr. Richard Shirbroun as his secretary and later for the Garst and Thomas Seed Company and the Malcom and Thompson John Deere dealership. Donna and Richard moved to California in 1984 for thirteen years, moving back to Carroll in 1997. She has made her home at Orchard View since 2011 and at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City for the past year. Donna enjoyed crocheting, attending her children’s activities, and spending time with family.
Donna is survived by her four children and families: Harlan Hamilton (Janice) of Carroll, Keith Hamilton (Karen) of Altoona, Kimberly Hamilton (Kim Dorman) of Hermitage, TN, and Anthony Hamilton (Vicki) of Bowling Green, KY; six grandchildren: Matthew Hamilton (Tara) of Altoona, Jake Hamilton of Ankeny, Joshua Hamilton (Sara) of Carroll, Nikki Robinson (Bryce) of Mt. Juliet, TN, Molly Caruthers (Marshall) of Idaho, Kenzie Brinkman (Matthew) of Carroll; fourteen great grandchildren; her sister Kaye Peterson (Frank) of Morrison, CO; a brother-in-law Jerry Hamilton (Lucretia) of Billings, MT; and several nieces and nephews.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Helen Rhodus; her mother and father-in-law William and Wanda Hamilton; two brothers: Harold and Murray Rhodus; and her husband Richard Hamilton in 2000.
