The Birth Place at St. Anthony Regional Hospital will be hosting weekly Infant Feeding Support Groups in Denison and Manning on Wednesdays. The St. Anthony Clinic Denison and Manning Regional Healthcare Center held their first sessions yesterday (Wednesday) and will host the others from 10 a.m. to noon at Denison and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in Manning. “We have a history of providing a host of educational services to help new parents navigate parenthood,” says Pat Hogan, director of The Birth Place. “These support groups allow us to meet new mothers in locations that are most convenient for them.” During the sessions, babies will be weighed and questions about breastfeeding, returning to work and on many other topics will be answered. No registration is required for this free program. Mothers and their babies are encouraged to come and go as their schedules allow. The support groups will be led by Alicia Dentlinger, a St. Anthony Registered Nurse who earned her lactation consulting certification through the Iowa Breastfeeding Coalition. She has worked with new mothers, providing infant feeding support at The Birth Place for five years. For questions, contact The Birth Place at 794-5260.
